SIGInnova was conceived as a result of discussions in early 2017 between Dawn Tiura, SIG’s CEO and Barry Wiegler, SIG’s founder and former CEO who had been focused on emerging, innovative products as an investor and advisor for a decade since leaving his formal role with SIG.

Their concept focused on applying a Silicon Valley type model to identify and screen products to meet the needs of SIG’s members for innovation that would enhance performance, while at the same time reducing barriers and enabling efficiencies for providers of emerging products.

During the remainder of 2017, Barry met with CPOs from SIG’s member companies to define and structure what is now SIGInnova. Many of these CPOs now comprise the Leadership Council that guides SIGInnova’s activities including services and product selections.

Working with the Leadership Council, 15 product needs and desires were identified and prioritized as a basis for selection. This has resulted in four products being chosen in March 2018 and an additional three products being added in October 2018. Additional providers are being added during 2019.

To further assist member innovation, SIGInnova will offer a growing menu of additional services, including education about emerging technologies and research on Innovation ROI within Sourcing during 2019.

SIGInnova is a partnership of Sourcing Industry Group and Creatze, a firm headed by Wiegler that specializes in creative advisory services and products.
